Team Tennis Programs
Designed for Players 8–16 years
SCTA Junior Team Tennis Leagues
Junior Team Tennis League is for children between 8 and 16 years old. Players will be divided into teams of 8 to 10. The season will run 6 weeks including practices and matches. Matches will use a team tennis format. This program is similar to USTA's Quickstart Tennis format, stressing the importance of play and team competition. Flight I—Ages 13–16 years (Not available in all leagues)
Flight II—Ages 11–14 years
Flight III—Ages 8–10 years (Quickstart Tennis format)

We are looking for volunteers to help with this non profit league. Like little league and soccer each team will need a team parent, coach, assistant coach, and administrators will be needed for each team. Learn more

Designed for Players 6–8 years
USA Team Tennis for Youth
These team youth leagues emphasize fun, fitness, and social benefits of tennis. Teams are organized to match players of similar ability and age and compete against other teams in their local area, consistsing of team practices and match play.

Designed for Players 19—Older
USA Team Tennis on School Campuses
The United States Tennis Association (USTA), Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) and the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA) have developed a partnership to provide college students the opportunity to learn and play the sport of tennis. Through these partnerships, we hope to have the college community become involved in tennis as participants and/or spectators at college matches.

Programs & Workshops


Advocacy Program
Very simply, our Advocacy Program provides support to local leaders in schools park districts and government to ensure adequate tennis facilities and program support. See our full Advocacy section on this website.
Educational Workshops
Yearly workshops are provided for school coaches, pros and teachers and interested volunteers to bring new material and new coaching techniques into the school environment. Our next Recreational Coach Workshop will be coming soon. Check our events calendar for details.
Program Grant Application
The SCTA offer grants that support tennis programs of all types. Grants are awarded based on need and availability. Priority will be given to those programs that develop and promote the growth of tennis in the greater Sacramento Area. Your organization must be or become a USTA organizational member prior to receiving funding. Call USTA Member Services at 1 (800) 990-8782 to join or renew your membership. Your organization must be an SCTA member organization to apply.

Starter Racquet Programs
Racquets donated or supplied at low-cost by the SCTA for beginning recreational programs to use to promote the game of tennis.
Specialized Youth Groups
Assist in coordinating outreach to groups such as Pacific Housing and Girl Scout Councils to reach large numbers of kids in our area that would otherwise not be exposed to the game of tennis.

Schools Program
School Tennis In-services
School Tennis (In partnership with USTA)
We offer and help you create customizable tennis programs, format ideas and a wealth of information for your school.

• Professionally conducted USTA teacher-training In-services
• State certified, School Tennis Resource Guides
• Racquets and equipment assistance
• Access to discounts & incentives for intramural & after school programs
• Link to tennis network of USTA clinicians and staff


The USTA School Tennis In-services are approximately three and a half hours long. A minimum of 12 teachers is required—fewer may be accommodated under special circumstances—with the maximum being 50 (space provided). All grade level teachers are welcome. Elementary, middle and high schools are eligible to receive free racquets (18 per school) and assistance with other equipment. In addition, we will endeavor to obtain used tennis balls for these schools to begin their programs with.

We strongly encourage all School Tennis programs to develop an After-School Team Tennis program.
